"We just want coffee. That's all, and maybe our freedom. But coffee works too.
You'd think that getting such an amenity in America, let alone Northwestern Pennsylvania wouldn't be too difficult. But the COs of SCI Mercer have made it their mission to make living as an inmate in PA as miserable as possible. Well, some of them at least. Some of the others are pretty cool too.
Unfortunately, that's not the worst of it, nor is it as bad as it's been. But I've seen more than enough funny shit around to know I should be writing all of this down.
Just then, a line of inmates parades through the library. I see white, black, Hispanic, jew and other walk on by. Every single one carrying a fresh cup of low-grade-instant coffee and subtle fear in their eyes. I jump up, realizing I'm late for the day's coffee run, and I round the corner, slowing down in time to hear some idiot back talk to CO about the day's shenanigans.
Today is going to be a good day, I think to myself as I hurry up to fix my cup. Yeah, it's just another fucked up day, locked up in SCI Mercer."
