Why Gather

The pandemic changed us all. After being apart for so long many of us are asking, "Does the church really matter?" or, "Why would I need to complicate my life with another community of people?" If the church was not an essential part of our lives before this time it easily becomes a casualty of newly formed routines and ways of living. Many of us have wondered whether our relationship with Jesus can exist without the church. But can we really engage our faith in a vibrant and growing way without the church?

Perhaps we will look back at this season and be thankful for the clarifying nature of the chaos we have endured. In some ways we have been given a gift. A rare opportunity to really ask ourselves, why does the church exist? We have the chance to examine both our intent and our practices making sure they line up with our Biblical values and beliefs. Why Gather is a short book that examines why we gather as a church. It is no longer enough to assume that people will come together consistently because it is something we have done in the past. We need logical reasons and a new apologetic for why the church exists and why we should engage in community together. This little book will give you the opportunity to ask difficult questions and look at scriptures that point us to the reason for our gathering. Sometimes we don't know why we do the things we do until they are challenged - let's allow the challenges we are currently facing lead us to a deeper knowing, understanding and commitment to Jesus and His church.
