Mars and Venus describe the problem This dictionary provides the solution You already know men are from Mars and women are from Venus. Yet, knowing this doesn't prevent you and your partner from... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is an easy read and so specific that one learns fast. I highly recommend readers to really look hard at the different approaches to dialogues that start and continue arguments in relationships. Arguments are terribly damaging as we all know. Dr. Lewis is an excellent psychologist and she has put into this book some basic realizations that all partners can benefit from. Isn't it easier to know ahead of time the damage we can inflict if we don't stop and think? I'm looking forward to her next book!

I read this book with my partner and it seemed like we were saying "wow, that is us" to almost every section! The book is very easy to read and not your typical "self-help" guide. You can read the book from cover to cover or you can read whatever section you open to. After reading this book I have a better idea of how so many arguments get started and more importantly...how to avoid them! I have already passed a copy on to two friends! Thank you for this book.
Required reading for men and women

So many problems in relationships could be avoided if only men and women understood the others' language. Most of us aren't even aware we are speaking "female-ese" or "male-ese" and can't understand why our partner does not understand us. Dr. Lewis brings her considerable knowledge and experience as a therapist to this crucial topic, first defining how each gender uses words and phrases, then providing real-world strategies to bridge the gap. Written in an easy-to-understand style, the book is filled with illuminating examples. I'll be keeping this book handy to refer to in my next relationship!

This was very, very interesting to read and was great help to re-evaluate how you act in certain situations in a relationship. It is amazing to think about things from an objective view and makes you think about important things in relationships. It is very practical, unlike other books that I have read in which the author exaggerates on many topics. This book is also very relatable. Not only is it practical and relatable, it is one of the easiest books to read because of how interesting it is. It is obvious the author is great at what she does and clearly knows what she is talking about. I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone!
Finding the right words

I can't believe how helpful this book would have been in my previous relationships. How many times did something slip out of my mouth that wasn't at all what I meant or was totally misunderstood. I definitely recognized myself in the examples. I like how this book gives me real time, practical, down to earth explanations of how these misunderstandings occur. Hopefully, with the insights from the book, I can actually communicate more clearly and closer to what I mean, plus get a better response. The book is easy to read straight through, and I imagine that it will be helpful as a dictionary, too. The Personal Inventory exercise in the back is very useful. I came to this book after reading her book With or Without a Man, which is just excellent.
