Wendy's "A YOU Draw Book" series stands out because it combines storytelling with interactive illustration, allowing children to actively participate by drawing and coloring their own pictures that complement the pre-written stories. Unlike traditional storybooks where the illustrations are fixed, these books empower young readers and budding artists to personalize their library by creating unique visual interpretations, fostering creativity, engagement, and a deeper connection to the story.
This is a "YOU DRAW" book. What's different about this book? I would like you to draw your own pictures to follow along with my story about a little girl named Emma who wonders why we sleep at night. When she asks her mother, "Why Do We Sleep At Night?", she isn't satisfied with her answers. She then falls into a deep sleep where some very interesting characters appear in her dreams throughout the night. Can they help solve this important question? Will Emma be able to figure out this mystery on her own or will she need help from an adult?
INSTRUCTIONS: After reading the story, you will have the opportunity to draw pictures in the spaces provided. Please use your imagination. The illustrations and colours you choose are up to you. I don't want to influence or persuade any ideas that will come naturally from you as the creator or illustrator. I would suggest you pencil out your ideas first and then add colour. (Pencil crayons or crayons work best).
GO SLOW AND ADD LOTS OF DETAIL
A possible goal would be to complete one or two pages each day.
