Why Dentistry As a Career: Lessons for Pre-Dental Students

Written for students pursuing pre-dentistry at The Master's University or other colleges, Dr. McLeod's "Why Dentistry" covers dental specialties, shadowing, dental education, a changing profession, an overview of famous dentists and great medical discoveries, as well as an early history of dentistry, anatomy, and more. Dr. Neil McLeod studied dentistry at Guy's Hospital, an incorporated college in London University. In his final year, he accepted the Alfred Rycroft Traveling Scholarship to visit Tufts Dental School in Boston. While studying for Primary Fellowship in the Royal College of Surgeons, he also sat for the Licentiate in Dental Surgery. As a Fulbright Scholar, he studied at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry and obtained his American Doctorate before going into private practice on Sunset Boulevard in 1976. Dr. McLeod's research into the alignment of semi-precision attachments and web presence for dentists has been published in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, the peer-reviewed journal of the Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics.
