HE DID IT THE HARD WAY

It is a miracle that Terry Fator is where he is today. He survived the worst childhood one can imagine. In his book he details some of the horrors he endured and the price he paid for his crime of being nothing but a good and loyal son. Terry suffered. Terry suffered bad. Terry writes with such an engaging style you don't want to put the book down. I read the whole book in one day. The book is an easy read. I wish it was longer! It is certainly a book that all actors, singers, musicians, and other performers can relate to. If you think showbiz is easy, read this book! I saw Terry's show in Las Vegas. I only wish I had read the book before seeing the show because I would have appreciated it that much more. I know I will see it again in the future because Terry said in the book that he will always offer new, fresh material. This is truly an emotional journey. It is about a good kid who got it all in spite of a nightmare of a childhood. You find yourself rooting for Terry throughout the book...and just when you start to feel good for him he refers back to his satanic tormentor who kicks him back down to zero again, over and over: Heartbreaking stuff. But in spite of it all we all know how the story ends so we are always waiting for the "good part" when Terry takes us through his experience at America's Got Talent. My favorite part of the book is when he speaks of his late cat and the story about the sunglasses! The book left me feeling bittersweet. I was enraged that anyone could have been so cruel to him as an innocent child who's only mission in life was to please. I wanted to scream out: "Terry, WE (your fans) are so proud of you!" He is the ultimate survivor. You know the saying, "Nice guys finish last?" Not in this story...

Overcoming incredible odds

If you watched Terry win on "America's Got Talent" -- or even if you didn't -- this is a MUST read. What a story. This man overcame an incredibly depressing, brutal childhood, yet never gave up on his dream to become a successful entertainer. My husband and I have met him, and he is exactly as he has appeared on TV -- just a friendly, talented man who loves life and people and appreciates everything that has happened to him. He is an uplifting, inspiring story of a dream come true.

Great book

This man has endured many things in his past. He never let his past overcome him. He always depended on God to get him through things. We all should learn from this because faith and beliving is what we need. Anyhow, I thought the book was great. Some of the things in the book i could relate too. I would recommend this book to anyone. Terry is a great entertainer. Thanks Terry for a great book!!!

This book will enrich your life!

This is one of the best celebrity bios I have ever read. It is a great rags to riches story but above all a story of incredible perserverance against all odds to succeed at something the author loved which was performing. This is a very visceral book. I found myself laughing and crying at various times and I am a 50 year old man. The stories about Terry's father dashing his dreams at every opportunity were anger inducing but there was so much joy to be had in reading his climb up the ladder and his meeting his wife-to-be Melinda. This is a very fast read and extremely satisfying. Your life will be enriched by reading Terry Fator's story.

This is a very insightful book. It tells what has made Terry Fator, Terry Fator. What he is today is because of his circumstances. It reminds us all not to let our past rule us. It was very welcoming to see that anyone and everyone can acheive success if we have motivation and if we have God on our side. It is really nice to read how one depends on God to help him through. One great book to read. I couldn't put it down. If you are lucky enough to meet this man, you will find that he is facinating and amazing man, not to mention a world class ventriloquist!!!
