What can we learn from the Pharisees and Sadducees?
We can learn from the Pharisees and Sadducees by avoiding their mistakes. Both groups fell into extremes. The Sadducees reduced their religion to minimalism, a religious fa?ade, in order to gain political power. The Pharisees went overboard with rules, forgetting what was most important. Both groups turned away from God and set the wrong priorities. They also lacked the humility to accept that they could be wrong. When Jesus rebuked them, the two groups joined together to kill him instead of repenting! (Matthew 21:45-46)
