Whispers is a book of poetry that harkens back to the author's favourite styles of poetry: classical Chinese poetry (from around 600 to 1300 AD, notably the Tang and Sung dynasties), and the sensibility of Japanese haiku. Most of the poems in this selection are short and to the point. As in classical Chinese poetry and Japanese haiku, nothing is there that doesn't need to be there. No flowery phrases or obscure literary allusions that tend to obscure a poem's true meaning. Hopefully, these poems will whisper to you, and not be drowned out in meaningless babble. The poems in this selection that tend to be a bit longer are that way because the poem itself demanded it. No added lines of poetry were included unless told to by the poem. So, a glass of wine, or a cuppa tea or coffee, and a copy of Whispers and you, snuggled in your favourite chair, could make for a perfect combination....Enjoy. Whispers is part of what is loosely described as the Life Series. But, as any book in this series, it is a standalone volume. Books in this series can be read (and enjoyed) in any order.
