Whirl Wind Romance (The Fires of Love & Hate)
A garden proposal. A December wedding. A love that turns like the weather.
After the hanging of Ira Saxon, Hattie Morran wants peace at Silver Creek. What she finds instead is Walker Donovan - Ira's charming cousin, wounded, watchful, and suddenly indispensable. On the sixth of October, 1900, in the gardens of the estate, he asks for her hand. She answers before she has time to think.
The family does not trust the match. Lou Alexander sees the gossip coming. Matthew Forsythe sees the look in Walker's eyes and knows it is not love of Hattie - it is love of what she owns. Hattie will not hear them. She announces a hospital for Gallatin in honor of Doctor Cowley, takes Walker to New York for Laville's opening night, and marries him on the twenty-second of December.
Then the weather changes.
Liquor is brewed by the Devil himself, and Walker's charm is a wind that will not hold still. Jealousy of Matthew. Lies about Richmond. A child born too soon and buried under his father's name. A flight from Silver Creek to Wolf Creek, where the dark is older than the house. Through it all Hattie keeps the Corporation, the children, and a faith that is wearing thin.
Whirl Wind Romance is Book 6 of Sky Alexander's The Fires of Love & Hate - a sweeping historical Western romance of duty, desire, and a woman who is skating on ice that never warns before it gives way.
Set in turn-of-the-century Missouri and grounded in family history and real events.
