We were often found together at Gene's beer garden. Bill encouraged me to write and publish my first book, which took 17 years to complete (the next three only took a total of 6 years). Bill led a full, productive and interesting life, with many fascinating stories to tell. When he asked me about writing a book of his memoirs, I strongly encouraged him to document his life for family, friends and those interested in learning about life's events in the past 83 years.
