Where the Sun Doesn't Shine.

Where the Sun Doesn't Shine is a tale about growing up in NYC in 1990's in the tough NYC Public Housing system in Far Rockaway, Queens. Mary J Bernard is an only child who grows up feeling like she doesn't belong in her community, and feels abandoned due to her dad leaving her mother because he didn't believe she was his child. This leads to bitterness from her mother and Mary J searching to be loved and belong to a family. Mary J suffers great loses while trying to avoid the influences of the drugs and crime infested Edgemere Projects. She faces gangs, hustlers, and the peer pressure of trying to fit in. Mary J is a tall Dark skin girl who struggles with complexion issues, while trying to embrace her beauty versus what's considered beautiful in the 90's. Mary J earliest experiences with love leads her to question her sexuality and whether she can ever trust men. Will Mary J survive the darkness in her life and find a place where she can shine?
