Where The Story Ends

Where The Story Ends is the first fiction novel by Marcos F. T. Delfino, based on a screenplay for a feature film written in the late 1990s. It is a romantic dramedy that portrays Generation X with sarcastic humor, a touch of fantasy, and many ironies.

In the book's pages, we follow the adventures and misadventures of Rafael, Marina, Marcelo, and Fernanda. They are young professionals at the beginning of their careers who project great achievements while getting tangled up in passionate plots that are both complicated and fun, following different paths of self-deception and self-discovery. A formative novel with many layers of reflection on a defining stage in life, when dreams never seem impossible.

"If Rafael sees Marina better than she is, Marina sees Rafael worse than he is. And, for that very reason, she was never really hand in glove with him. She likes him, but for her reasons, Marina wouldn't be willing to fully embrace the relationship. I even stand here wondering if she was afraid he wouldn't be someone her buddies would approve of. Different background, different culture, in short, a playboy in the eyes of a group that grew up clapping for the idiot who showed his ass when booed. But if that were so, she would be disingenuous not just with Rafael but with herself. After all, isn't she that swears up and down she is the mistress of her choices?"

These are Marcelo's thoughts about Marina, to whom Rafael is unwillingly introduced by Fernanda. Raphael is from the movies. Marina, theater. But she is more interesting than he thought. More than that, she's too good to be true. At least that's what Marcelo says, a friend of Rafael and Fernanda since adolescence. Rafael believes in romance, but Marcelo doesn't have the slightest faith in this thing of finding the great love of his life.

On the other hand, Fernanda tries to hide it, but her heart insists on not forgetting that her friend Rafael was once her boyfriend. But she can't hide it from Marcelo, although he manages to hide from everyone that he's always been in love with Fernanda. Marina falls in love with Rafael but also kind of begrudgingly. She loves freedom and is reluctant to dive headlong into that passion.

Meanwhile, an astronaut floats through space in an electrically faulty capsule and shares his thoughts about loneliness and the crucial role of our choices over the radio. Will Bob's message reach these four young friends in emotional distress?

Immerse yourself in the ideas, dilemmas, and fantasies that go through the minds of each of the characters and discover, after all, where the story ends.
