The combat commander demands to know when and where his logistical support will happen. He has the need to know this for ensured success on the battlefield. As the environment of the military changes to a military reliant on modern technology, using private industry's ideas and innovations to better field the force, the importance of maintaining this visibility of battlefield logistics becomes greater....It must always be remembered that the goals of the military and of civilian agencies are different. The military has to train, equip and fight the wars, while commercial agencies' goals, particularly supply agencies, are to support the customer while ensuring a profitable operation.
