A Satisfying Read

Maryam Diaab has hit a home run with "Where I Want To Be." Sex in the city is not on Alexis's agenda. As a matter of fact, she has completely sworn off men: good men, bad men, future men. Then she and her girlfriends, Claire and Morgan, take a trip to New Orleans and everything changes. Alexis meets Massai, a handsome NBA basketball player, who melts her hardened heart. But what stands between them is Massai's gold-digging girlfriend, Eva, Alexis's secretly married ex-boyfriend, Kevin, who desperately wants her back, and a bombshell, roller-coaster ride along the tracks of baby-mama drama. Tightly written and real, screaming to a short, but still very satisfying end, "Where I Want To Be" is a worthwhile read. But be careful, once you start you won't be able to put it down until you've read the last delicious page.

Where I want to be ****

This book was wonderful!. I gave it four stars only because of the ending. I know the book could not go on forever but the ending was so short(?) I guess is the word I am looking for that it took away from the great flow the book had from front cover to back cover. The story was great and so where the characters. I hope to read alot more from MS. DIAAB.

Do You REALLY Know Where U Want to Be?

Alexis Hunter thought she had life all under control. She was a 20-something teacher living in Detroit and in love with Kevin Washington, the man of her dreams. Her life was turned upside down by an early morning phone call from Kevin's wife. Her perfect man unraveled bit by bit and things spiraled totally out of control. Alexis' girlfriends, Morgan and Claire, step in to help cheer her up by taking her on a girl's only trip. New Orleans is a vibrant city full of fun and romance. The girls go out on the town dressed to impress and meet three members of the New Orleans Hornets Basketball team. Morgan and Claire were ready to throw caution to the wind and ride on the wings of whatever happens but Alexis is very guarded. Until she meets Massai, he is a complete package - intelligent, handsome, and awesome ball player. Massai was determined to get to know Alexis even though he had a live in lover. Will cupid be able to soften Alexis' heart and open Massai to commitment? WHERE I WANT TO BE is a fast moving tale of love and all the issues that rise up because of it. The ideas of honesty, trust and forgiveness are uncovered and brilliantly dealt with one at a time. The characters jump right off the page and the reader will become involved in their lives like personal friends. Diaab has hit a home run with her freshmen book and this reviewer can't wait until her next. Deltareviewer Reviewing for Real Page Turners

Love Can Find You Anywhere

APOOO Rating: 4.5 Where I Want To Be by Maryam Diaab is a story of love finding a woman when she least expected. After having her heart broken by many men, Alexis Hunter, decides that she is not getting into another relationship. That is until she takes a trip to New Orleans for her 25th birthday. She finds herself instantly attracted to Massai Taylor, a pro basketball player. She knows that she has to deny her feelings because if anyone will hurt her, it would be an athlete. Besides he already has a money hungry girlfriend who he is trying to be faithful to. Massai and Alexis find it increasingly hard to hide their feelings for each other. Alexis lives in Detroit and Massai lives in New Orleans WITH his girlfriend. They are trying to find a way to work around Massai's gold-digging, back-stabbing, I'll-do-anything-for-money girlfriend, Eva, and Alexis's I-once-was-married-sorry-I-lied-ex-boyfriend, Kevin. It cannot possibly work. Can it? I enjoyed every second of reading this book. Diaab does a great job bringing you into the story so that you can relate. You either have been there yourself or know someone who has been fed up with love. A great love story that leaves you hoping love can find you too. Donnica Copeland APOOO BookClub
