where everyone Belongs
What does it really mean for a church to be inclusive?
Where Everyone Belongs is a practical, compassionate, faith-centered guide designed to help churches better understand autism, support families, and create communities where people of all abilities can worship, learn, serve, and truly belong.
Written for the whole church-pastors, ministry leaders, teachers, ushers, volunteers, children's and youth ministries, safety teams, and congregation members-this book moves beyond awareness and offers practical ways to turn good intentions into meaningful inclusion.
Readers will learn about autism, communication and AAC, sensory processing, regulation, safety, accessibility, and respectful responses to sensory overload. The book also addresses supporting caregivers and siblings, welcoming autistic adults, preparing quiet spaces, planning inclusive church services and events, and creating opportunities for people with disabilities to use their gifts.
More than a book to read, Where Everyone Belongs is a hands-on church resource. It includes practical checklists, accessibility tools, volunteer training materials, family support forms, ministry planning resources, a 90-day action plan, resource directories, and reproducible worksheets that churches can begin using with their teams.
At its heart is a simple message:
Every person has a place.
Every family deserves support.
Every church can become more inclusive.
Because true inclusion is more than opening the church doors. It is creating a community that can genuinely say:
"We were expecting you. There is a place for you here."
