I LOVE this book!

I bought this book new in 1996 and I get it out every Christmas and enjoy it again. I love the way the author explains each tradition in a non-judgemental way without pushing any agendas. It's just a straightforward, entertaining look at history and how culture evolves. This is not a "debunking" of Christmas by any means. The author neither confirms nor denies the existence of Santa Claus, Jesus, the star of Bethlehem, etc, but just tells different historical perspectives of how these stories came to be. It's a lovely book and worth much more than its $8.00 cover price.
