This story is about a group of youths, teaching them about performing arts. This was something that had never been done before in a summer program. Ms. Kim. Talk, to a group of her friends and shared her ideas with them. They were a group of professional entertainers. They started the Ms. Kim Festival of the Performing Arts. Legends like Teddy Harris Walter Mason, Earl Van Dyke and Ms. Kim all came together for this great cause. They set up workshops, for dance, band, drama, creative writing, vocal music, audio video and designing workshops. Kim set up a meeting with the Mayor Coleman Young, the mayor of Detroit, MI. He loved the idea and it was approved. Now it was time to get the word out about the program. It was something new, because most of the summer youth programs were clean-up programs for the youth around the City of Detroit. People hurried up putting in their applications for the program. The word was out If you had talent it was a plus, but if not, you could get in a workshop. It was something for everybody to come and learn. The teachers taught us how to be professionals. It was a right way and a wrong way to perform. Yes, it was hard work, but to be the best, you had to learn from the best. The program always was open for us to show improvement. To make the good and great, greater. This is the story Festival for the performing arts, our story, and our festival, to pass the dream on. We hope you will enjoy our story as much as we did.
