I can't get enough of Stephanie Mack's books. My first read - Twenty Something Else - was a delightful and thought-provoking read. This book is told in similar raw, honest, endearing first person voices of Seraphina and Connor. It tackles a lot of hard topics - miscarriage, addiction, divorce, counseling, forgiveness, co-parenting a sensitive child - and will leave you pondering about your own marriage and parenting. It will have you taking a closer look at your own responses to your spouse and child(ren) when things get difficult.
I loved both Seraphina and Connor. Their young love was fast and furious and they had no idea what marriage required (as most of us when we got married). I loved Seraphina's creativity and ability to feel things deeply. I loved Connor's logic, desire to provide and work hard, and willingness to be vulnerable this time around. Their second chance through a unique dating app was fascinating; all throughout the story, I was never sure how Jack/Connor would resolve the issue of being the same person. I learned a lot through the therapists in the book and their sage advice.
If you're looking for a moving women's fiction about growth and rebuilding, this is it.
