Pamela's book is beautiful....The depth of honesty, pain and Divine Love she shares touches me deeply. I feel blessed by having participated in Pamela's journey as she shared her wisdom during prayer circles and the time at La Casa. I was loaned the book and thought I would skim through it to see what is was about. I found myself mesmerized by the author's personal tragedies and her internal conflicts about her strict religious beliefs. Personally having abandoned the church in search of a more universal spiritual connection, I found this story helped me to regain appreciation for traditional religion and ritual. I now see where we don't have to discard one for the other, and that mysticism and conventional religion can merge through updating archaic doctrine to modern reality.

Courageous, insightful and elegant.

This is a book that reads like a novel and once started you will find it difficult to put down. Pamela's life journey will stay with you long after the last page. This memoir will break your heart while it makes you wonder and refect on the beauty of life. When the Moon is Dark should be a must read for men and women, especially in today's world. This is a very thought provoking read.

A very thought-provoking book

I sat down with this book and ended up reading it from start to finish (9 hours straight!) because I literally could not put it down. Such a stunning story, and the writing is so clear and honest. I'd never have believed a theological book could have such an emotional impact on me.
