Great Novel, totally realistic and full of scares

I can't remember enjoying a novel so much. I literally could not put this book down. Smith keeps you on the edge and keeps the pace without any hokie scenes or boring digressions into characters we don't care about. His writing is sleek and crafted for suspense. Some scenes are absolutely unforgettable. I hope he follows up with a sequel.

Brilliant work!

This book was well plotted, suspenseful to the finish, and extremely frightening. Every detail was carefully thought over before being included: no element, no matter how small, is out of place.A great read: make sure you either can read fast or have a large block of time because you will not be able to stop once you start, until you finish the book. Be prepared to be scared.

Really enjoyed reading this book.

When Shadows Fall is not your typical horror novel. It's great. It really departs from the fill-up-300-pgs-with-boring details approach I've come to loathe in King and company. Smith has broken new ground with his cimematic writing and jam-packed action. It's really hair-raising, fast moving literature. I highly recommend it.

Hats off to Smith for one hell of a great book.

It's hard to believe there's negative reviews here about this book. I guess these people like a good snorer. I've never been so entertained and excited about reading a horror novel. Most are so lame. Smith delivers what horror SHOULD be. I couldn't put it down--really packs a punch. Hope his next is coming along soon!

It's the most frightening book I have ever read!
