Bronislaus was a handsome Polish boy obsessed with fishing, while Nicole was a beautiful Italian girl who adored horses.

They met innocently as children after his father won one side of a small lake in a poker game.

Both understood Nicole was promised to another boy whose father built her a horse club on the far side of that lake.

It didn't matter that both families owned popular crosstown restaurants or were Detroit Mobsters at the height of the Roaring Twenties until Bronislaus and Nicole realized their love for each other was always meant to be.
