When Grandfather Was A Boy

I had this book when I was about 9 or 10, and loved it. I forgot about it after it was lost in a move, remembered it sometime in college and have been searching for it ever since. It's about a little boy who lives in the 1970s. By spending some time with his grandfather and father, he learns what it was like for them growing up in the 1930s and 1950s, respectively--and, in the process, gains a little better understanding of them and appreciation for what he has. I love the message behind it: while our surroundings and possessions may change, there is a common thread from generation to generation. (If I can't find this book, I very well may write one about my own grandmothers, mother, self and niece!)
