When Given an Avocado, Make Guacamole

I have been traveling to Mexico since 1981, living in Mexico since 1994 part-time and from 1999 full-time. I have traveled throughout Mexico by bus, plane and car. I have made many and difficult crossings both into the U.S. and Mexico. I have owned homes or rented in Ajijic, San Juan Cosala, San Miguel de Allende, Ensenada, Puerto Nuevo and Rosarito. I have felt, since my very first visit to Mexico, that Mexico would be my true home. I always compared it thereafter to every one of the countries I have visited. In 1981 I fell asleep on top of the sacrificial alter at the Uxmal temple outside of Merida in Chichen Itza, and woke to a solar flare with the words coming out of my mouth, "I am home." For me it is important to give back to my host country with good news and information about it to entice others to move or visit here. I wrote my first book, A Single Gringa in Mexico and published it in 2012 and my second book Mexico a Sunny Place for Shady Men in 2014. I am constantly asked about living in Mexico since I began to write the blog, "A Single Gringa in Mexico." I began writing to explain what it is like to live in Mexico as a single woman. What more is there to say about this writer? Except that she is an open book as you will see while reading her frank assessment of her life in Mexico.
