NEARLY SIXTY YEARS AGO, in August 1958, North Dakota's attention turned not to weather, crops, cattle or politics, but to a group of youngsters from Drayton, population 825, who captured the imagination and support of the entire region by winning baseball games and titles over teams from the state's largest cities and advancing to the national Junior American Legion tournament, playing and defeating teams from even larger cities. North Dakota has seen no other team like it - Ever. The "Cinderella Team" battled to a standstill against teams from metropolitan areas with populations LARGER than the entire state of North Dakota. It was a rare experience by any standard. "When Cinderella Wore Spikes" is the first time the Drayton team's story has been told in its entirety.
