Martin wrote this book to offer an alternative viewpoint to non-Chinese readers, it was a best seller to shock the West, especially American politicians, He lists the Chinese civilization developed over thousands of year and mold the Chinese soul and spirit. China is the world in terms of civilization, culture, invention, orderly government, education and self-reliant and sufficient for thousands of years. Britain pirate Francis Drake raided Spanish silver fleet and contributed the booty to the Queen Royal treasury. The unjust rich enabled the capital for Industrial Revolution and colonialism and imperialism. When the envoy came to China, a heaven on earth - easting rice, enjoying tea in the fine china, wearing silk and studying sage book printed on paper! They were not interested in British novelties. To bring down the deficit, British smuggled opium to push to Chinese people and waged immoral wars against China. China was the Sick Man of East Asia and almost cut up in the Boxer Rebellion with eight countries invaded Peking in 1900. The century of humiliation motivated them to seek ways for a rich country and strong military. Marx and Confucius helped to achieve this mission with Trump waged trade wars with high tariff, and Americans suffered high inflation.
