When Angels Cry is a rare and masterful insight into one of society's darkest subjects. This moving and superbly readable true story is fast-paced and well-crafted and is guaranteed to keep the reader eagerly turning to the next chapter.
When Angels Cry was written from my own experiences. When our daughter was four years of age, my wife and I became aware that my father was sexually abusing her. This led to the discovery of other young victims in his past, and so began a decade of torment involving police investigations, court cases and ongoing family confrontations, culminating in prison sentences and fractured family relationships. It also began my decades-long battle with manic depression, better known as bipolar disorder.
My story leads you into the aftermath. It tells of my marriage breakdown, business failures and loneliness, illustrating the debilitating effect of this on everyone around me.
However, the second section changes tone, following me through my recovery, my healing and spiritual awakening. This part of the book, even as I read it now, contains enormous truths and answers, the vastness of which I was totally unaware as I wrote them.
My story brings you right into my heart and mind as I journey through a nightmare and come out the other side. It offers hope, extraordinary hope. I did overcome the tragedy. I did survive the nightmare. You can recover from mental illness. You can and will learn and grow from the most crippling life events you can imagine.
