The author grew up across the river from Wheeling in Ohio. He was a frequent visitor to Wheeling as it was once a hub of commerce and industry. In 2015 he created a T- Shirt with more than 200 names of businesses from Wheeling's past. When the shirt was released more name and stories poured in on Facebook. There was no way to fit them all on a shirt, or even a blanket. The memory of many of these businesses would soon be forgotten to history if not recorded somewhere. So he decided it would be best to record them in a book. Inspired by all of these fond memories of the schools they attended, the businesses they patronized and the people they met along they way, expressed on Facebook by current and former residents of Wheeling West Virginia, the author has attempted to capture them in this Commemorative Coloring Book. Featuring 140 pages of memories and fun. With basic images that are easy for a child to color and abstract and complicated images to challenge the skilled colorist. Why a coloring book? Because they are FUN! They don't require batteries, the internet or a smartphone to enjoy. To "save" your work, just close the cover. Many people will never color a single image in this book. They will enjoy it just the way it is. If you do intend to color it you may want to order another copy to put away as a keepsake. No matter how many you order, you will always need more copies. Someone you didn't think of always sees it and asks for one. It is the perfect gift for anyone from the Wheeling area. Be sure to share with the young people in your family who never knew Wheeling in it's glory days. They never parked at the Wharf and walked to the Court, Coronet or Victoria Theaters to see a movie. They never had the pleasure of having lunch in the "Tea Room" in Stone and Thomas or Dinner at Elby's or Ernie's. They will never dance at the White Palace or Tin Pan Alley. They will never enjoy a Pizza at Augsto's or see a produce truck go through the neighborhood in the summer. Go through the pages slowly and see how many people, schools, places and businesses you remember. With more than 500 names of people, schools and businesses, there are bound to be some mistakes. The only source the author had to rely on were peoples recollections. He has tried to include as many as possible. There may be some spelling errs and some businesses may not be found where you would expect. No offence was intended by any errs or omissions. If you find something wrong, please let the author know, so it can be set right in the next edition.
