Rachel, a school teacher and a single mother, deals with her difficult relationship that she has with her teenage daughter, Sam. The relationship comes to a breaking point when her daughter wants to live with her dad for the summer. Rachel, having her summer break, is alone for the first time and isn't handling it very well. During this time, Rachel is notified by authorities that a man who had previously abused Rachel is being released from prison. This information drives Rachel to alcohol and depression.
