A book that presaged the evolution of our society

I have bought this book a couple of years ago. At that time my intrest was merely about how to "create my own reality". Alexander discusses that on occasions in the book. The book however went more about our world at large, politics, science, religion, sickness etc. The driving beliefs/fears behind them and, when I read the book not so alarming, warnings about their then present courses. When I read the book the world was different. Nuclear energy was passe, genetic engineering was far away in laboratoriums and wouldn't be used anyway(that was my impression), religious fundamentalisme was on tv documentaries and on the other side of the world and a new kind of world war? But now, today, in 2007. Note Alexander doesn't predict the future. He uses the belief that you create your own reality as a starting point and looks at the then and now present beliefsystems. Their origins , their present expressions and their eventually end results. There where warnings about the end results throughout the book. Warnings about genetic engineering etc, that today are more valid then when I read the book or when the book was written. Amazing. I may give you the impression that this is a very heavy book. It is not. It is an empowering book with many insightfull information and a helping hand from above.

The first "Alexander" book, but not the best.

I have mixed feelings about this book. It certainly contains timeless truths and information that one can receive nowhere else. Yet at times there is an offensive condescending tone and an "attitude" that is quite judgmental while repeatedly claiming to be no such thing. Portions of this book were inspiring and portions really angered me -- I found myself arguing hotly over certain elements (to no one in particular). For example, liberalism is condemned more severely than conservatism -- as I read it, at least. One semi-serious flaw (creating dependency) is magnified beyond endurance, while the multitude of beneficent effects on the human condition are brushed aside. Parts of the book are dated now, as well. Still, for serious Alexander readers, the book is worth the effort, but I would begin with "Earthly Cycles."

One of the best channeled books.

Whatever happened to Divine Grace is behind Ramon Stevens other book Conscious Life one of the best channeled books I have ever read. The book gives support, faith and clearance. Things needed sometimes in these days.
