Fascinating topic

I read about this book in a USA Today article. I loved Murphy Brown--one of the few tv comedies that really made me laugh out loud. This book presents the idea that the women of primetime tv help to shape our opinion of how women really live. The contrast between June Cleaver and Roseanne as loving mothers; the difference between the career lives of Mary Richards and Murphy Brown; the challenges faced by Kate and Allie and those faced by the women of Sex and the City are discussed and illustrated with quotes from specific shows. The ideas are sharp and interesting and though I did not always agree with the writer, I did find the whole book interesting and thought-provoking.
