What begins as a high-stakes argument for civilization becomes something stranger and more intimate - a love story between Bjorn and Watching, an alien observer sixty-seven years old who has attended forty-three civilizational evaluations and never once declared a position, until now. Set against a semi-dystopian future of flooded cities, vertical farms, and amber-hazed skies, the novel is funny and sad, sexy and philosophical, and ultimately a profound argument that humanity's best quality is also its most ordinary one: we feed each other, and in the feeding, we say everything words cannot.
