What they don't tell you about failing is that it's much easier than succeeding.

Monica Locklear had a successful life in the big city: a great job, designer clothes, a busy social life filled with friends and plenty of good-looking guys. But when the company she works for gets sold and her job is eliminated, her only option is to move back to her hometown of Cold Spring where failure awaits.

After an unlikely event lands Monica in court resulting in two hundred hours of community service, she finds the only place she can serve those hours is at Long Rhodes Ahead Animal Rescue working for Chris Rhodes, the guy she left behind after graduation.
