Everyone who has seen what the author and Bill Falin have done with these guns has been duly impressed.
While not the fanciest gun ever made, these rifles with the right handload or European factory ammunition are entirely capable of delivering impressive accuracy and for hunting of any big game species excepting the most dangerous and biggest creates on four feet.
For an entire century, U.S. gun writers have almost universally maligned Military Mauser rifles and the 8mm Mauser chambering. One of the Author's goals with this book is to set the record straight in that regard. To wit: These are great rifles; those tested toward the data in this book are in every way as good as any '03 Springfield ever made. Equally, the 8mm Mauser is a great cartridge; when properly loaded it comes very close to matching anything the 30-06 Springfield cartridge can do and if bullets of similar profile to the best 30-caliber bullets offered were offered in 8mm, the ballistic differences within the effective hunting range would be inconsequential.
