Entertaining and educational

This book is an entertaining and engaging read for both adults and intelligent children. It contains clear and memorable descriptions, amusing cartoons, and what was, at the time of publication, accurate information about every imaginable species of desert plant. I highly recommend this for people who want to know more about the desert and the plants in it. There aren't flashy pictures or a lot of colors, but even thirty years later, I know what a neomammilaria microcarpa is-- and whether I should run, or hide.
