By Robert G. Ingersoll

Book Overview

""What Is Religion?"" is a thought-provoking book written by Robert G. Ingersoll, a prominent American orator and freethinker. In this book, Ingersoll explores the nature of religion and its impact on human society. He argues that religion is a human invention, created to explain the mysteries of the world and to provide comfort and hope in the face of uncertainty and fear. Ingersoll also examines the various forms of religion and their historical development, from ancient polytheistic beliefs to modern monotheistic religions. He critiques the dogmatic and intolerant aspects of organized religion, while also acknowledging the positive role that religion can play in promoting morality and social cohesion.
