What's a Nice Jewish Boy Like You Doing Here? follows my life from birth until old age. I was a 28-weeker and couldn't wait to begin my life. Antisemitism was alive and well in Haverhill, MA during the late 40's and early 50's. I required the assistance of a bodyguard to walk me to school when I was only seven years old. I later caddied at Haverhill Country Club and the caddy master did not know I was Jewish, otherwise I would not have been able to caddy. I was glad I looked Italian and I was not black. This got me through my early youth.
My story follows me through high school as a basketball player and Sports Editor of the school newspaper, Brown and Gold. I had problems with women. Marched with Martin Luther King, Jr when he was in Boston and I was a whistleblower for the Social Security Disability Program.
1965 found me in the U.S. Air Force as a Chinese Linguist and I traveled to Japan and Hong Kong.
I worked in human services all of my professional life and this is the third book that I have written. I wrote a children's book Sydney the Uncommon Squirrel and Twist of Fate: No Turning Back.
I am happily married to Alice and I have fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. I golf and my nickname is "Woody."
