Reviewed by Cynthia Baute for Reader Views (10/06) As someone who has been trying to identify my "life goals" for quite some time, I was very excited about reviewing the book, "What I Want Next." The book is designed as a tool to direct you toward the required steps to attain the next level of success and achievement in your life. The text is clear, concise, and an easy read - steps are arranged logically and chapters are sprinkled with amusing anecdotes and quotations that support the message. Due to my own high expectations, I was less than impressed by the contents of the book. I was disappointed to find that 82 of the book's 147 pages were simply "Extra copies of the What I Want Next Process for later use." The steps are logical to the extent that they should be obvious. If you are a self-motivated, proactive person, then you do not need this book. If you have taken steps to identify and pursue your goals, then you have already been guiding your decisions and actions toward what you want all along and this book will not gain you any benefit. If you are working from a reactive perspective (reacting to the directions life chooses for you), or if you feel that you have so many choices available to you that you are overwhelmed, then this book may benefit you. If you are always planning to figure out the future "tomorrow," then this book may be just the motivation you need to get started on your future. "What I Want Next" is a book of logical step-by-step instructions on how to map out your future. If you have an idea of what you would like to achieve than this book will assist you in defining the road map on how to reach your goals.
