What Doesn't Kill You

ok...I am bias...Lorraine Mutschler is my Aunt...but even with a close family connection to the halarious stories in this book, many of which I didn't know about growing up, this book shows all of us that there is so much joy in all the simple things in life. Lorraine Mutschler skillfully relates the gifts that come with a challenging, yet rich and fulfilled, life. Well Done Aunt Lorraine! I can't wait to laugh with you through your insights in your next book.

A BOOK ABOUT LOVE, FAMILY, AND FAITH!

ONCE I STARTED READING THIS BOOK I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. THE REAL LIFE SITUATIONS THAT LORRAINE AND BABE FACED THRU THEIR WHOLE LIFE AND OVERCAME WITH LOVE, HUMOR AND FAMILY ARE ASTOUNDING! I HAVE A HARD ENOUGH TIME TODAY TO FIT TWO CHILDREN , A WIFE AND THEIR SCHEDULES INTO MY LIFES' SCHEDULE AND STILL DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH TIME IN A DAY TO DO IT ALL! LORRAINE AND BABE DID IT WITH TWELVE CHILDREN IN A TIME THAT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE MUCH EASIER THEN TODAY, BUT TIMES THAT EASIER TIME BY TWELVE AND IT IS AMAZING THE LOVE AND FAITH THAT HAS TIED THIS FAMILY TOGETHER THRU GOOD TIMES AND BAD. I CAN VOUCH FOR THIS AUTHOR AND HER FAMILY BECAUSE I HAVE HAD THE FORTUNE THANKS TO THE GOOD LORD TO BE APART OF THIS FAMILY AND IT'S LOVE AND KINDNESS FOR THE LAST 25 YEARS. I AM MARRIED TO THE AUTHORS NIECE AND WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT EVERYTHING I SAY IS FROM THE HEART AND THE LOVE THAT I HAVE FOR THIS FAMILY FOR MAKING ME ALWAYS FEEL AS IF I AM ONE OF THE FAMILY. MICHAEL MILLER OF PITSBURGH

This is an insightful book full of love, faith, and humor.

I read this book twice. Both times I laughed out loud, and cried til my tears stained the page. It takes me back to a time when life was so much simpler, and shows me a vision of a large family learning to live and love together. That it is written with so much humor is a testimony to the author's creative writing skills, but more so to her delightful recognitions of the absurdities in life. The sheer logistics of feeding, clothing, and nurturing twelve children in a small house on a tight budget might seem to be insurmountable, but Lorraine and Babe just do it. Everything seems to be taken in stride, including the hilareous antics of the many children. This is a must read, feel good book.

A "laugh out loud", "couldn't put it down" kind of book

Everyone in our family (adults, teenagers and middle-school aged children) had the same reaction to this book: WE COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN! The story is told so beautifully and with obvious honesty. The Gilbreaths of the wonderful book "Cheaper by the Dozen" apparently were more financially secure than the Mutschlers, but they couldn't claim to have had more fun, or love.

A very funny true-life story about raising twelve children.

This is a book that makes a person both laugh and cry. If you cry at weddings you will cry at some tender moments in Lorraine Mutschler's life. You will laugh at the antics of her dozen off-spring. You will marvel at the courage exhibited when a life threatening diagnosis is received regarding her husband. This book remind me of Cheaper by the Dozen.
