The year is 1966 and a blizzard blows in an evil spirit. The Wendigo, a cannibalistic monster, enters Deadwood South Dakota and the town descends into fear and sickness. Mary Thatcher's family is right in the middle. While her mother's mind is deteriorating and her father starts working long hours at the hospital, Mary starts experiencing symptoms. Doctor James Thatcher starts recording his daughter's digression as he searches for a cure.

Fast forward and the year is 2006. Elaine Wilcox grew up knowing very little about her family's past. She finds an opportunity to dig for the truth and takes it. Many of the older generation in her town tiptoe around what happened in Deadwood, but she has a gut feeling the dark past is connected to her family. As she tries to find answers, she meets an old friend of Mary's who won't let go of the secrets.

Elaine's digging unearths the town's past and its enemy, but can she avoid history from repeating?
