After Wells View High's principal dies unexpectedly on campus, the future of the idyllic, serene school is thrust into uncertainty, and the heartbreaking task of finding a replacement falls to beloved English teacher Hannah Johnson. But, in trying to ensure stability after her friend's tragic passing, Hannah unwittingly ensnares the school in a convoluted, tedious selection process-one that begins to dominate every facet of daily life.
