Young Children should not read this

MY REVIEW : 📚📙📘📗📕📚 Wow what a wild psychological ride Emiko Jean just took me on.While I loved this book i was shocked to see it was ment for 9-12 year olds.I would not want any child if mine reading such a dark book touching on these subjects !WE'LL NEVER BE APART is told from Alice's point of view & her journal which Alice keeps throughout her stay at the mental hospital in which she writes about her and Celia’s traumatic childhood and the events leading up to the fire which killed Alice’s boyfriend. Cellie ( her twin )has a chapter at the beginning and end of the story. Alice is telling the story from a psychiatric hospital. The first chapter starts off introducing us to Celia, Alice’s sister, and the tragic fire that killed Jason and badley burned Alice. It is such a powerful chapter that will have you hooked and quickley turning the pages to see how it ends. I will warn you this is a heartbreaking, intense, and a very dark read. From the moment i opened the book it keep me turning the pages until i reached the very end. It is a short read only 279 pages so i read it in one day. The twist at the end totally had me floored. I had it all wrong. And that does not happen often . Alice and her twin sister Celia were orphaned when their grandfather who was their only living guardian died on their sixth birthday . The girls went without food except for their birthday cake , and heat for days all while being in the house with their grandpas dead body. (Too young to really know what to do) Fineally a neighbor saw them outside playing when they should have been in school talked to them. When the girls told him they could not wake up their grandfather the neighbors then went to check on him and discovered he was dead. From there the girls were shuffled from foster home to foster home. Some good but most bad. No wonder the girls were so messed up. I also found Amelia, a girl with self mutilation issues who is Alice's roomate a very interesting .I can’t wait to read more psychological thrillers from Emiko Jean. Maybe one day she will write Amelia's , Jason , and Chases story.

Very enjoyable

This book is definitely gripping, but this book did disappoint me. Reading it I knew what the ending was going to be almost immediately, and I'm sad the author took that route when there were other more creative and less used routes that could have been taken. I would have preferred something more concrete, for the main protagonist to finally achieve what she's wanted for so long; true freedom. Other than the underwhelming ending that is rather cliche this book is a great read. I definitely will recommend this book to my friends.
