Throughout his early days in Florida, Bas's internal monologue reveals a deep struggle with regret, loss, and the weight of his previous mistakes-including the painful dissolution of his marriage. His narrative is raw and candid, exposing his inner battles with addiction, failed relationships, and the pervasive shame that accompanies a life defined by poor choices. Yet, even as he wrestles with these demons, Bas finds solace in the simple routines of daily life-a carefully brewed cup of coffee, humorous yet poignant encounters at the local gas station, and the comforting presence of family.
