Have you ever wondered: What happened to contest horses Roy Rogers gave away? How an old German farm with no running water was transformed into the Lazy Y Angus Ranch. What it is like to learn how to be a Texan, find a ghost, entertain in a playhouse, swim in a ranch pond, raise a squirrel in your house, hide a horse in town, ride on the Salt Grass Trail, catch wild goats, take your horse to college or ride in a torch ride 75 miles from Huntsville to Nacogdoches? And much more.
This book reminds us that there really was a time when kids did something other than play computer games and watch TV. Whether the reader ever had a horse or a weekend ranch to enjoy, there are cleverly told stories about growing up that anyone can relate to. The family, the friends, the misadventures all make for good reading for young and old alike.

Loved your book. Lots of great humor that I can relate to. Brought back so many memories that I myself lived. Growing up in the Texas hill country in the 1950's could be hard. This book tells the many obstacles a country girl goes thru, learning as you go. Everyone needs to read this book.
