Yolanda is in her late 20s and despite mostly following the blueprints of what it means to become an adult, she never quite grew up the way everyone wanted her to and is frequently criticized for her hobbies and interests by the people closest to her. Facing frustrations in her marriage, she is motivated to finally fulfill her dream of visiting Japan. The trip makes her realize that a fulltime job and a mortgage haven't dampened her weebish tendencies, and for eleven glorious days she gets to fully explore to her heart's content. Aside from some culture shock and getting a bit lost, the most unexpected complications become the questions about her life and relationships. Yolanda finds herself managing a budding quarter life crisis in a country thousands of miles away from home, with each experience bringing her closer to figuring out what she really wants in life. Weebish is loosely based on Shana Pellon's own experiences in Japan, specifically her first trip in the 2000s before the days of smart phones and Google Maps. The moments of insight and absurdity woven throughout emphasize that life changes are sometimes handled best with humor and good company.
