We like to read this book to see all the silly animals (who wind up being toys) dancing the hokey pokey. Beware, though. By the time the book finishes, I am so caught up in the song that I just hafta do the final, ultra-dramatic "you do the hooooookey pokey..." dance number. Of course, kids laugh at that kind of thing, so maybe it's not so bad. The book is great for teaching left and right (right wing in, right wing OUT (teehee: get it?), for reinforcing body parts, and for reinforcing animal names. Have fun with this one.
Great Fun

My daughter and I always have fun reading this book. She has started to act out the song with my help. In addition, she loves having the animals too look at and we often get distracted from out story to talk about them. That is okay though, as my goal of spending quality time with her is still met. The song is fast paced, the book reads quickly, and is entertaining. All great qualities in a book for an active toddler.
The Hokey Pokey

This is a very charming book--takes a person back to their childhood. The illustrations are outstanding, full of expression with an innocent style.
