Taking the ancient women's work of weaving as its framework, Weaving Our Way Beyond Patriarchy is a collaborative text of voices woven from the Womancraft community--our own authors, both established and upcoming; aligned authors published elsewhere; and readers, ranging in age from twelve to over seventy. Through poetry, prose, letters, articles, and artwork, more than eighty women--authors, activists, artists, community builders, priestesses, poets, professors, teachers, witches, mothers, and grandmothers--reflect on what it might look like beyond patriarchy and how we might get there, from the big picture to the domestic details.

Inspiring, Encouraging, and Hope-filled!

The compendium Weaving Our Way Beyond Patriarchy published by Womancraft Publishing features several Womancraft authors and the writings of many other women from around the world. One of the things we most need at this moment in time is to keep our imaginations and our creativity alive. This collection of women's voices sings of strength, vision, joy, resolve, defiance, change, love, hope, and togetherness. I love how Lucy H. Pearce, founder of Womancraft Publishing, opened this compendium up to everyone, published authors as well as previously unpublished writers. Side note: Womancraft Publishing is a small, independent, woman-owned and led publishing house in Ireland. Within the pages of Weaving Our Way Beyond Patriarchy are essays, art, poems, letters, and more with many re-imagined future ways to live and do life together. The book is organized into sections: The Weavers Gather, Unravelling History, Breaking Silence, Healing, New Visions, and Prayers, Practices, and Rituals. There are two pieces of writing that gave me chills and that stand out to me the most. One is Molly Remer's poem "Beyond the Garden", in which she describes strong, wise women rewriting their story, remaking their world, remembering what has been lost, and reclaiming their sovereignty. The other is "A Spell for Uncertain Times" by Lise Lønsmann, a declaration in which she unbelongs herself to certain ways of doing and being and belongs herself to new ways. They are both magical pieces of writing. Gift this book to yourself and to women in your lives who need to be uplifted and inspired to envision a beautiful and different future beyond patriarchy.
