Weathering the Storm
Braving a summer storm, Hank finds friendship in unexpected places. Hank, Dorothy, Freddie, Earl, and Old Green Eyes learn about courage, empathy, and resiliency. Perfect for kids 4-10.
In Weathering the Storm, Hank and his friends gather on his front porch, their shared sanctuary from the storm's fury. The friends reminisce about their friendship while they eagerly await their next adventure - playing in the puddles
It all started one day when Hank saw his bike in the driveway, just as a storm was approaching. Venturing outside to save his bike, he encountered Dorothy, a dragonfly struggling in the rain, her wings too wet to fly. Their chance meeting allowed Hank to realize that he was not the only one navigating the storm's challenges. He saw her vulnerability, and quickly sheltered her.
Hank and Dorothy's friendship is just the beginning. Freddie the frog, Earl the earthworm, and Old Green Eyes the snake eventually seek refuge on Hank's front porch during summer storms. No longer afraid, the friends understand that fear is a natural response to daunting situations, but it can be overcome with courage and the support of friends.
Weathering the Storm is a heartwarming story about friendship, bravery, and the silver lining that comes with all storms. The story's vivid imagery and illustrations will captivate children, making them feel as though they are a part of the story. An engaging plot with humorous lines makes complex themes of courage and empathy accessible to young readers. This delightful and inspiring book is a must-read, inviting children into a world where friendship blooms in the unlikeliest of places and where courage can be found within us all - no matter how big or small.
