Raised in Lancaster, Pa., Cynthia (Candy) Lavender, the mother of five children decided to pursue her passion...writing. After having careers in nursing, cosmetology and administrative fields, and raising her children, she decided to pursue her love of writing; which included poetry and children's books. Her one desire was to write a children's book about the conflicts and loneliness a deaf child endures in our so-called "perfect word." In some sense, it was an easy enough task because she had seen the effects of being deaf; one of her beloved grandchildren was stricken with a disease at two months old that left him deaf. Hopefully, this book will enlighten a child that is deaf to see how another child learns to love and live in a world that sometimes shuts you out because of you affliction.
