My mother died after a long battle with cancer. While her death was certainly difficult, this book is an attempt to chronicle the ridiculous moments that occurred for those of us left behind. We Lost Mom's Ashes (And messed up a few other things along the way) describes my family's inept attempt to follow the explicit instructions Mom left for spreading her ashes. We actually lost her ashes for thirteen years. Once the blue suitcase which held her remains was found, we continued our inept approach, mishandling the spreading of her remains. This book is a collection of true stories that clearly demonstrate that even when you have the best intentions, things can end badly. A dog is exhumed using questionable tactics, Uncle Fat's casket is missing, and part of Dad's ashes ended up on two snorkelers off the coast of Honduras. You would have thought that someone in my family would have learned a lesson or two along the way, but apparently, none of us did.
