Witchy with a splash of darkness

Sooo good. This series is definitely dark, but not so much so that I have nightmares or am in a daze all day (I’m an empath and when I am reading a book I tend to “become” the story so much so that I feel I’ve got a blanket of dread over me for the duration of the story if it is a dark and heavy one.) I tend to keep with lighter, happier reads. I cried toward the end when one of the characters died because I really liked them and had hope for them. It was such a disappointment, but then my ever hopeful spirit fought off the tears and I just knew the character would be ok. Maybe their spirit will show itself to Charlie and therefore never really leave this series. I won’t tell you how everything panned out though. Don’t want to ruin it for you. If you are looking for a light read this isn’t for you. If you don’t like reading about children’s deaths, this may not be for you - there are a lot of them. However, everything turns out well for everyone in the end and one of the more stubborn characters has a change of heart that makes them more tolerable. There’s also a new character I can’t wait to get to know in the next books. Next is Book 3 “Devil’s Snare”.
